Product Description The recently published 14th edition of Barron's Graduate Record Exam test prep manual is now available with a brand new CD-ROM that features an entirely new and up-to-date model computer adaptive exam. That is the way in which the actual GRE test is now given, which makes Barron's CD-ROM the closest possible simulation of test-taking conditions available anywhere. The CD-ROM presents an adaptive test that is unique to each test-taker, based on the way the first question is answered. All model test questions are answered and explained, and exams are scored automatically.

An indispensable source for the GRE test takers! August 12, 2000 Leng Hong Lim (Toronto, Ontario Canada) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This was my first GRE reference and practice book and it has proven to be the best. There couldn't have been better explanatory advice and comments that you could find in other GRE references of this nature. I personally find the verbal part in the book very useful in expanding my lexicon that was required for the test. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is serious about taking the GRE!
Great Help July 28, 2002 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I found this Barron's book a much better help than any other GRE book I used or looked at (esp the Priceton Review book - very bad). This book has a huge number of example problems and exercises (and practice tests) that are really beneficial. The tips about each section of the test are helpful, informative, and well explained. The vocab section is tremendous - with many many words and quizzes to test yourself. If you are considering a GRE study book, I highly recommend this one as the only one you'd need.
Excellent Preparation for the GRE October 5, 2003 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is definitely one of the best preparation guides I used for the GRE. The Math section was especially helpful to me. Instead of generic strategies, the book gives me many practicle math shortcuts which I found to be essential in tackling time constraint. The book also provides a pretty comprehensive vocab list and numberous exercises for both verbal and math. The only downside of this book is the CD-a useless supplement to an otherwise fantastic review book.
The only book you will need to prepare GRE November 4, 2002 Ina Lee (Simi Valley, CA) 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
Barron's GRE book is the best. In addition to Barron's, I used different books suc as Kaplan and Princeton review. I found that if you study this Barron's book diligently, you can do very well on your GRE test. The 3500 word list is very very very helpful. The quantative questions may be harder than the actual exam. However, if you can master these questions, you should do well on the actual test. All in all, it's an excellent book. Please give yourself two months as there are a lot of material to be learned and studied.
Extremely useful, but model tests & software are irrelevant December 17, 2001 John Unknown (Bethesda, MD, USA) 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
Use this book in addition to the official Big Book and PowerPrep software. Read the strategies and hints and learn the 3500-word list, but disregard the model tests and software: they have almost nothing in common with real tests. I started learning English only after high school, but this book helped me score 2320 on GRE. I must say that most of your preparation time should be spent with the Big Book and also familiarize yourself with the CAT GRE several days before the test date. However keep in mind that GRE tests your life and language experience of many years as well as overall educational background. So the sooner you start preparing, the better.
