The best book for TOEFL test. March 7, 2004 Tomas (Lithuania) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
The best book for TOEFL test. Software is very well organized. It is possible to analyze statistics of your mistakes and to find out the grammar problems that should be revised. For preparation for TOEFL test I used three books: Longman, Cambridge and Thomson. Longman is the best book. Cambridge is very good too, but not as good as Longman. Thomson is very bad. I scored 267 on computer based test.

Be sure to buy the listening tapes March 20, 2003 I-lun Tseng (Taipei, Taiwan) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
This book is well organized and covers all the aspects of grammar, listening, reading, and writing. The 8 tapes are very helpful. If you purchase this book, be sure to buy the listening tapes. Notice that the tapes are sold separately and the content is different from the CD-ROM, since the CD-ROM is mainly used to simulate the Computer-Based Test (CBT) on a PC.
Best book ever written for the TOEFL test April 9, 2005 Payam Razavi 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book is definitely the best book for the preparation for the TOEFL test in the market. That's why most (if not all!) the colleges in the US teach from this book in the TOEFL classes. I personally have used this book for preparation for the test. Before reading the tips and doing the sample TOEFL exams in the book, I barely could get more than 200(out of 300) on the sample TOEFL tests, however, after reading this book for only 3 weeks I earned a sweet 274(out of 300) in the TOEFL computer based. (BTW, I have a brand NEW version of this book for selling. You can reach me at pmrazavi@gmail.com)
A wonderful book, but doesn't include listening!! July 28, 2001 TestMagic Inc. (San Francisco, CA USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Wow! This is the best book available, and I have seen ALL of them. It includes a great TOEFL CBT software program that has tests AND practice. When you take the practice tests on the computer, you need to know about the tests. First, most of my students get a lower score on Test 1 than they do on the real TOEFL; consequently, most of my students are depressed when they take the first test. Most of my students get the highest scores on Tests 3 or 4; in other words, Test 1 is the hardest one. The Listening and Reading Sections are all new; different from the previous CBT book. There's lots of practice in this book that reflects what the TOEFL is like now. The grammar section is the same as the previous Longman book that is so well-known. This book, like most TOEFL books, doesn't really give strategies for taking the test. To learn the strategies, you should go to some discussion groups and see what others have to say. I wish that this book included the cassette tapes for the listening section and gave more tips to students about how to take the test.
